Equipment - all you need is...
Ready for your Daily Dental Steps? Let's start with your must-have equipment for top oral hygiene and a big smile!
The toothbrush is one of the centerpieces of your oral care routine and should be chosen carefully. Here are a few tips for you on what to look out for when choosing a toothbrush:
- Use a toothbrush with soft to medium-hard bristles - plaque is removed without damaging your gums
- Brush with an optimal pressure of between 150-200g - it's like gently squeezing a tomato without crushing it (you know that from the commercials, right?)
- Use an electric toothbrush - they are often more effective than manual brushes
- Replace your toothbrush or brush head regularly - it is recommended to replace it every 3 months or so!
However, the right toothpaste is just as important as the toothbrush and we are of course experts here! Fluoride is your dental protection hero (we explain this in more detail elsewhere). It strengthens tooth enamel and helps prevent tooth decay. So, reach for a good fluoride toothpaste for daily use - preferably one from Licor del Polo;)
Now that you have your favorite toothbrush and toothpaste together, you are well equipped to take your oral hygiene to the next level. Your teeth will thank you!
Toothbrushing technique - that's the way...
Let's get to the nuts and bolts of great oral hygiene - daily tooth brushing with the right tooth brushing technique. Grab your equipment and let's get started!
First things first: a pea-sized amount of toothpaste is perfect for cleaning your teeth effectively. But let's move on to the technique - the KAI method. From our point of view, this is your perfect roadmap for thorough brushing and clean teeth:
- Ksurfaces: Brush the chewing surfaces of your teeth first. This is the easy part because you can simply scrub back and forth.
- Aouter surfaces: Next come the outer surfaces. Place the toothbrush at a 45-degree angle to the gum line and move it in a gentle, circular motion. This allows you to reach the gumline and effectively remove plaque.
- Internal surfaces: Finally, brush the inner surfaces. The same applies here: 45-degree angles and circular movements are the key.
And very important: 30 seconds is a bit too little for thorough tooth cleaning. Take around 2-3 minutes twice a day to remove plaque from your teeth.
Dental floss - so fresh, so clean
A step that is often neglected but is super important to keep your interdental spaces clean: flossing!
It's best to use dental floss once a day, preferably in the evening. To do this, wrap approx. 45 cm of dental floss around your middle finger and gently move it back and forth between your teeth. Bend the floss into an additional C-shape and gently move it up and down each tooth.
These techniques will ensure that even the hidden areas between your teeth stay clean and your smile shines healthily! Interdental brushes can be useful for larger spaces between teeth or if you have braces.
Mouthwash
Last but not least: An antibacterial mouthwash after brushing and flossing can help reduce plaque and freshen breath.
Our special tip: Make it even easier for yourself and use the iconic Licor del Polo 2in1 products for that extra kick of freshness! Use the toothpaste gel in the classic way in combination with your toothbrush or mix a small amount with water so that you can rinse thoroughly. This saves you time in your dental care routine.
